Feedback received for Mandy’s Accommodation which name has been changed to Nicky’s Place. We hope to continue the previously great service provided by Mandy.
Mandy was a pure delight, like a breath fresh air, and her accommodation was first class it was the best accommodation on our tour. Just what we needed after our first day of being on the bikes all day, it was like being at home. Mandy and Colin have really done a wonderful job of renovating the property, and as we were keen on renovations, Mandy took us around and showed us all the rooms. I can really recommend the accommodation as number one spot.
Just a quick to note to thank you for the nights accommodation we had last Monday at your Omakau Cottage. The facilities were first rate and we all enjoyed the lovely breakfast you prepared for us. We feel that the accommodation you provide sets the standard for the rail trail and was really first class and made our bike ride that more enjoyable.
Thank you again.
We were a group of 4 couples on the rail trail and were delighted to find such warm and friendly people at the end of our first day with delightful accommodation.
Each room we had was different and all were beautifully clean with interesting art and décor. Mandy was an excellent host. As it was a hot day our room was quite hot as it was upstairs but Mandy had closed the blinds and put a fan on before we arrived. Very thoughtful.
We stayed in your accommodation last week while cycling the Otago Rail Trail. Of the four nights we spent on the trail, we found your unit to be the most suitable. The beds are comfortable, the unit is spotless, well-appointed and easy to heat up. The small courtyard for the bikes and the thoughtfully supplied covers for our bike seats to prevent them getting wet overnight were much appreciated. I passed this tip onto other cyclists at Wedderburn where the bikes are left in the open overnight, thank you for a very pleasant overnight stay.
We stayed at Mandy’s Accommodation in ‘Jack’s Shed’ a standalone and fenced, ensuite studio. The studio was cosy and comfortable and very clean. We had a lovely night’s sleep. Mandy was very down-to-earth and kind. She catered well for my partner who is gluten-free, ensuring he had a good breakfast the next morning. I really appreciate the story behind Jack’s Shed, too.
This is a great place to stay while on the rail trail or even driving through. Really nicely appointed rooms. Very tidy and immaculate. Mandy is a fantastic host and explains everything about the area well. 50m to the tavern for a good country meals highly recommended.
Nice little private cottages, with space to store your bikes (we were on the rail trail). Clean and tidy with modern décor, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast included (eaten in your room as there is no communal breakfast area).
Every now and again you meet an angel, this happened to us when after a long, tiring and hot day on the rail trail we arrived at Omakau to be greeted by Mandy who handed us beach towels and pointed us in the direction of the local swimming hole! Magic… The accommodations are lovely and smart, continental breakfast at our leisure. Clothes drying rack in private courtyard was much appreciated. Highly recommended.
Mandy’s Accommodation has a variety of room sizes ranging from studios for couples to a three bedroom house for families. Mandy, the owner of the accommodation couldn’t have been nicer, and was very helpful at directing us to the attractions of the region. She has paid fantastic attention to detail in decorating her rooms and they are warm and welcoming, plus nice to have access to free Wi-Fi in the rooms. Mandy also provides a continental breakfast, which was an added bonus that we weren’t expecting. Mandy’s Accommodation is right on the Otago Rail Trail and is an ideal stop for a night (or two) for cyclists. There are bike stands outside each room and even a place to charge batteries for electric bikes.
The rooms are right next door to the Omakau Commercial Hotel and opposite Muddy Creek Café, both of which do great meals.
We would highly recommend staying at Mandy’s Accommodation for either a cycling trip, or just to relax and enjoy Central Otago.
Stayed one night mid march as a part of the central Otago Rail Trail. We stayed in the rear self contained cottage. It was beautifully furnished and well fitted out including full cooking facilities. Our welcome from the owner was warm and helpful. We bought food from the corner shop and cooked our own dinner. Had a great stay, quiet and warm. Cover your bike seats with the covers provided, as the overnight dew is heavy and if it freezes as it did for us, its not a pleasant thing riding on a wet frozen bike seat the next morning!
